Big Finish Scribe Award Nominations 2025
The winners of the 2025 Scribe Awards, as presented by the International Association of Media Tie-in Writers, have been revealed, announced at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday 25 July 2025.
These awards acknowledge and celebrate excellence in licensed tie-in novels and audio dramas based on TV shows, movies and games.
For the fourth year running, Big Finish Productions was guaranteed a win in the Audio Drama category, with writers in various ranges having received all five nominations, as follows:
- Doctor Who – The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Archipelago by Tim Foley (JOINT WINNER)
- Doctor Who – The Eighth Doctor Adventures: Cass-Cade by James Moran
- Doctor Who – The Eighth Doctor Adventures: Nowhere Never by Katharine Armitage
- Doctor Who – Classic Doctors New Monsters: Faithful Friends – The Krillitane Feint by John Dorney
- Star Cops – Blood Moon: A Cage of Sky by James Swallow (JOINT WINNER)
Big Finish listeners can now get these nominated titles at a discounted price for a limited time only, plus selected bundle deals. (These offers expire at 23:59, UK time, on 28 July 2025.)
John Dorney said: "It’s always a real honour to be nominated for a Scribe award, because it’s always alongside a fantastic collection of writers. The Krillitane Feint was sat in my head for many years so I’m delighted it came out so well, with an amazing cast and beautiful direction from Barnaby Edwards."
James Moran said: "I'm hugely honoured to be nominated in this category, especially considering how fantastic the other nominees are. This story is one I'm really proud of, so it's particularly lovely to get a nomination. Every time I get to play in this universe, I already feel like a competition winner, so this is doubly marvellous!"
James Swallow said: "“I’m thrilled and proud that Star Cops – Blood Moon: A Cage of Sky has won 2025’s audio Scribe Award, against some very stiff competition! It means a great deal to see the audio drama format given its due by a professional group like the IAMTW, and my thanks go to the judges this year! And of course, this win couldn’t happen without the amazing team at Big Finish – thanks to Emma Haigh, Andrew Smith, Helen Goldwyn, and our brilliant cast David Calder, Trevor Cooper, Linda Newton, Philip Olivier, Lynsey Murrell, Caroline Loncq and Alan McKenna!”
Tim Foley said: "I’m delighted Archipelago has won a Scribe award. In the story, there are only three souls manning the ship, but in reality there are a lot more souls on board. It was forged in zoom sessions with my co-writers John Dorney and Lizzie Hopley and script editor Matt Fitton, so imagine them charting maps and wielding compasses. Swabbing the decks are the fantastic cast and crew, beautifully captained by Helen Goldwyn. And strapped on front, the visionary figurehead of our ship, is our producer David Richardson. Have I stretched this nautical metaphor as far as it can go? With writing like this, you’re probably surprised Archipelago won any kind of award. But this is two special performances from Chris and Alex and the most romantic story I’ll ever get to do on Doctor Who. Love to all!"
