Big Finish - For the Love of Stories
16 October 2025

The Blake’s 7 story continues

New ReleasesBlake's 7: Books and Spoken Word

The explosive climax of acclaimed science fiction series Blake’s 7, broadcast in 1981, left the fate of many characters uncertain following a brutal shootout. Many viewers were desperate to know what happened next to Avon, Tarrant, and the other iconic inhabitants of the dystopian future imagined by Terry Nation

These viewers got their answers three years later, with the release of Tony Attwood’s novel Afterlife. Developed from an idea by Chris Boucher, this continuation explores the consequences of the Blake’s 7 ending on the surviving heroes, as well as what happened to a character significantly absent from that final TV episode – the wicked Servalan.

Long out of print, Afterlife is now available once again as an audiobook, read by Alistair Lock, who plays Orac and Zen in Big Finish’s full-cast Blake’s 7 audio dramas.

Blake's 7: Afterlife has a running time of seven hours and fifty minutes – making it the longest Blake’s 7 audiobook yet released by Big Finish. It is now available to purchase as a digital download to own for £21.99, exclusively here

Nine million people watched the dramatic final episode of the Blake’s 7 TV series. And not one could ever forget – or fathom – the final catastrophic shootout on Gauda Prime.

Did Blake’s death really mean the end of the fight against the evil forces of the Federation? Was the vulnerable thief Vila killed – or just wounded? What happened to the computer Orac? Would the scheming Servalan regain her old powerbase?

And what of Avon himself, the unbeatable, unpredictable paranoid who had ended it all?

Afterlife is Tony Attwood’s brilliant continuation of the Blake’s 7 story.

The audiobook’s reader Alistair Lock said: “This is like a wide-screen version of Blake’s 7. Avon, Vila and Servalan are such iconic characters, and I’ve relished being able to bring them to life in this audio recording of Tony Attwood’s novel.

“I’ve had great fun acting in audios for Big Finish set during the original stories, so it’s a bit of a treat now to work on an audiobook that is set after the events of the TV series.”

Purchasers of the audiobook will also be able to access the original 2,000-word glossary for the novel as a free PDF download.

Alistair Lock previously read the audiobook of Blake’s 7: Avon - A Terrible Aspect, Paul Darrow’s prequel novel exploring the origins of his rebellious character, which was released earlier this year.

Blake's 7: Afterlife is now available to purchase as a digital download to own for £21.99, exclusively from www.bigfinish.com

This audiobook contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listeners.

All the above prices (including pre-order and multibuy bundle discounts) are fixed for a limited time only and guaranteed no later than 31 December 2025.
