Doctor Who - Time in Office

Big Finish NewsDoctor Who: The Monthly AdventuresSpace Precinct

In September, the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) takes up a long overdue appointment in Doctor Who - Time in Office, alongside Tegan (Janet Fielding)... and Leela (Louise Jameson)!

As writer Eddie Robson explains: "Time In Office has been in the works for four years - script editor Alan Barnes came to me with the idea of teaming the Doctor and Tegan with Leela, on Gallifrey, with the Doctor being forced to take up the role of President he escaped at the end of The Five Doctors. Things shuffled around in the schedule and Alan suggested treating it as four one-episode stories. I loved this approach: I treated it like I was writing a sitcom, a Gallifreyan version of The Thick Of It."

"Having worked with Peter on my Radio 4 show Welcome To Our Village, Please Invade Carefully, I'm always keen to make use of his comic talents on my Who audios. Although there is an arc plot, each episode has its own storyline, exploring a different aspect of the Doctor's duties as President. A large part of it is that the Doctor has been installed as a populist gesture to unite a Gallifrey fragmented by Borusa. He's got no political experience and suspects he's just a figurehead and the real power resides elsewhere."

"The script was written a while ago, but I re-read it in December ahead of the recording and it all read differently in the light of the US elections, as the Doctor accidentally finds himself in an oddly similar position. People might interpret it as a response to that when this release comes out - but it was written before!"

Doctor Who - Time in Office is one of the two September main-range Doctor Who releases (alongside Matthew J Elliott's Doctor Who - The Silurian Candidate), and is priced at £12.99 on Download or £14.99 on CD (the CD purchase unlocking a digital version as a Big Finish exclusive in your account).

You can subscribe to runs of 6- or 12-stories, which not only offer savings on individual purchases, but give you PDF script downloads, extended extras downloads, and up to four brand new Doctor Who - Subscriber Short Trips stories a year. Prices start from £54.
