Smith & Sullivan’s latest cases

Stop PressWorlds of Doctor Who: Special Releases

Leaving the TARDIS behind and returning to life on Earth doesn’t mean an end to the adventures. Sarah Jane Smith (Sadie Miller) and Harry Sullivan (Christopher Naylor) will soon team up to investigate mysterious goings-on in 1980s London, in Smith & Sullivan, their own new audio series.

In July’s box set Smith and Sullivan: Reunited, Sarah and Harry investigate deaths in phone boxes, go undercover in the offices of a mysterious millionaire, and deal with the stress of meeting deadlines when alien adversaries are out to get you.

The duo are joined by K9 (John Leeson), Sarah’s loyal robot dog, and her Aunt Lavinia (played here by Annette Badland), last seen in 1981 TV special K9 and Company (where she was played by Mary Wimbush).

The Worlds of Doctor Who – Smith and SullivanReunited is now available to pre-order as a digital download to own for just £19.99, exclusively here.

The three episodes are:

The Caller by Tim Foley

As the government prepares to sell off the telecommunications network to the highest bidder, including Starling Industries, Sarah investigates a spate of unexplained deaths in phone boxes across the capital. Elsewhere, Harry is vetting the bidding companies on behalf of UNIT, delighted when the assignment converges with his old friend – and her robot dog!

Sarah and Harry realise they are investigating the same thing – why is government minister Sir Gordon Carmichael covering up the ‘phone box murders’, and what alien power is Violet Starling preparing to unleash?

Union of the Snake by Roland Moore

Self-made millionaire Eric Chen inexplicably went from working in a sawmill to designing a revolutionary computer chip that has made billions. He had no training or education in electronics. How did he do it?

His new PA – Sarah Jane Smith – is determined to find the answer.

Blood Type by Simon Guerrier

Busier than ever with so many cases, Sarah has little time to write up her cases for publications. But taking shortcuts risks making mistakes, as a journalist and as an investigator.

When an old adversary reappears, the pressure reaches boiling point. But can Sarah rely on her closest friends in this crisis?

The guest cast of Smith and Sullivan: Reunited includes Graham Seed (The Archers), Marcia Lecky (Wreck), Sarah Moyle (Doctors), and more names to be announced.

Director Jonathan S Powell said: “Sarah and Harry are just such fantastic characters. It’s amazing that these stories and these characters that mean so much to so many people can keep going. And we just hit the ground running – it’s like we’ve never been away from them, but it’s also this whole exciting new direction to take them all on.”

Script editor Peter Anghelides added: “Mark Wright and I sat at the back of the booth watching and smiling and laughing as the scenes were performed, because it was exactly what we’d hoped for, the interactions between the two leads.  It’s so exciting and so, so thrilling.

“They’ve been through a lot – Harry’s been away and come back, Sarah has had those experiences with the Doctor. And so we want them to be central to what’s going on. They’re not going to go rushing off to UNIT or Torchwood, for example. They’re going to rely on their own skills and connections and expertise to solve the challenges that get thrown at them.”
